Abstract

The Goya Awards are an awards presented annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Spain, in order to reward the best professionals in each of the different specialties in the industry. The award consists of a bust of Francisco de Goya cast in bronze by the sculptor José Luis Fernández. Currently, voting is by specialties, ie each member votes four candidates in the specialty to which it belongs (except in the categories of best Spanish movie, foreign, documentary and animation films), while years before all members voted in every category. These awards were presented for the first time on March 17, 1987 at the Teatro Lope de Vega in Madrid.
