Abstract
To make a little history and remember the highlights of the Spanish participation in the international laboratory, which is the Antarctic continent, it is noteworthy that the University of Alcalá and was present at the dawn of the presence of Spanish scientists. Even before the existence of the first Spanish Antarctic base (BAE) and when Spain was more than a member attached to the Antarctic Treaty, scientists at Alcalá and strolled through the end of the world's glaciers installing our measuring equipment. It was in the 1987/88 when I myself started, with the help of researchers from the Natural Science Museum Vulcantar associated with international project with participation of Argentine, Italian and Spanish, my participation in Antarctic research.
