Antifederalist Speech Fail in Their Political and Media Debate With the Federalists?

Abstract
During the ratification process of the new Constitution of the United States of America in 1788, the federalists (representatives of 1% of the American population) accomplished the legitimation of their discourse through the publication of the federalists papers, therefore, the ideology of this minority group prevailed in the course for the formal approval of the new Constitution. On the other side, the antifederalists (representatives of 99% of the American population) did not succeed in their ideological legitimation strategies with the publication of the antifederalist papers, in order to avoid the ratification of the Constitution in the form presented by the federalists. This article analyses the importance of discourse analysis as a discipline in the historical research of journalistic sources and establishes the causes for the failure of the ideological legitimation strategies in the antifederalist papers, through a methodology of analysis designed for this end.
