A study about the practice of teaching the violoncello at the professionals conservatories in the province of Valencia

Abstract

This research has as its objective to know the methodology used in the specialty of violoncello at the conservatories of professional education of Valencia. The instrument of collection of information has been the questionnaire and the sample consisted of 34 teachers of 22 conservatories. Both a qualitative and quantitative methodology has been used to conduct this research. The results show that, although there is some coincidences in the form and tools of work, each teacher applies its own methodology adapted to the needs and characteristics of each student.

Ana María Botella Nicolás, Universitat de València

Doctorate in education from the University of Valencia. She graduated in Geography and History, specializing in musicology and Music Education from the University of Oviedo. Professional degree specializing in piano. In 2001 he obtained by opposition a place in the faculty of music of secondary teaching in Alicante (currently on leave). She has presented several communications in seminars and conferences on teaching music as well as several publications. She is senior lecturer Dr. of the educational department of Musical, Plastic and Corporal Expression of the Faculty of Education at the University of Valencia. She is part of the Academic Coordination Committee of the Master's Degree in Teacher of secondary education of the UVEG and Research Master in specific teaching. Since February 2015 directs the music classroom.

Francesca Fuster Martínez, Universitat de València

Higher entitled in violoncello by the Joaquin Rodrigo Conservatory of Music of Valencia. She is Master in Research in Specific Teaching, speciality in music education from the University of Valencia. She is currently preparing her doctoral thesis on the teaching of the violoncello.
